Todd received a BA Honours in Economics from the University of Alberta and an MA in Economics from the University of Calgary. Since 1993 he has held a series of economist positions at the Canada West Foundation, the Canadian Pacific Railway and the Bank of Canada. He joined ATB Financial in May 2007 as Chief Economist.
He is a regular business columnist for the Globe and Mail, and provides economic commentary for CBC, CTV, and other news media outlets.
In 2011, he was recognized as one of Alberta’s 50 Most Influential People by Alberta Venture magazine. He was recently honoured by the federal government with the Diamond Jubilee Medal, and in 2014 he was appointed to the Alberta Economic Development Authority.
In February 2012, Todd released his first book, The Boiling Frog Dilemma: Saving Canada from Economic Decline.
